Indications:
Enroflak® 5% is used for treatment of diseases associated with enrofloxacin-sensitive gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria as E. coli, Salmonella spp., Pasteurella spp., Bordetella spp., Haemophilus spp. Staphylococcus spp. and also Mycoplasma. Due to its broad spectrum of activity, it can be used in single or mixed bacterial infections of respiratory, digestive and urinary systems, the skin and wounds.
Mechanism of action:
Enrofloxacin is a synthetic chemotherapeutic antibiotic from the class of the fluoroquinolones. It has antibacterial activity against a broad spectrum of gram negative and gram positive bacteria. Fluoroquinolones interfere with bacterial DNA metabolism by the inhibition of two enzymes, topoisomerase II (DNA gyrase) and topoisomerase IV. It is a bactericidal agent.
Dosage & Administration:
Cattle, Sheep, Goats:
2.5-5 mg/kg B.W. (0.5-1 ml per 10 kg B.W.), by IM or SC injection, daily for 3-5 days.
In case of mastitis caused by E.coli, 5 mg/kg B.W., by slow IV administration, for 2 days.
Dogs and cats:
2/5-5 mg/kg B.W. (0.5-1 ml per 10 kg B.W.), by SC injection, daily.
Withdrawal time:
IM-SC administration:
Meat: 13 days after the last treatment
IV administration:
Meat: 4 days after the last treatment
Contra-indications:
Do not use in livestock that produce milk for human consumption.
Do not use in horse.
Do not inject in mammary tissue.
Do not use in young growing animals due to potential cartilage abnormalities.
Do not administer concurrently with macrolides and tetracyclines,
Caution:
Hypersensitivity reactions may potentially occur.
Animals should not be dehydrated during therapy.
The drug is not recommended to be used during pregnancy unless the benefits of therapy clearly outweigh the risks.
Keep out of reach and sight of children.
Use only under the prescription of a veterinarian.
