Dexamast® MC

Dexamast® MC

Dexamast® MC

Intramammary infusion

Therapeutically classification: Antibiotic and steroidal anti-inflammatory

Composition: Each 10 g syringe contains:

Penicillin G procaine

Dihydrostreptomycin (sulfate)

Oily base q.s.

Target species: Lactating cows

Dexamast® used for control and treatment of mastitis in dairy cows during lactating period.

Mechanism of action:

Penicillin G procaine Like other beta-lactam antibiotics, prevents the formation of the cell wall of susceptible gram-positive bacteria by interfering with the final stage of peptidoglycan synthesis. Beta-lactam antibiotics inhibit the activity of transpeptidase enzyme, which catalyzes cross-linkage of the glycopeptide polymer units that form the cell wall. They exert a bactericidal action but cause lysis only on growing bacteria. Dihydrostreptomycin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic with activity against gram-negative aerobes. After penetration to the cell envelope, it binds to receptors on the 30S subunit of the bacterial ribosome, induces misreading of the genetic code on the messenger ribonucleic acid (mRNA) template and causes bactericidal effect. Aminoglycosides exert synergistic action in combination with beta-lactam antibiotics. Dexamethasone is a potent corticosteroid which characterized by a high degree of anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic activity. Dexamast® is active against numerous gram-positive and gram-negative pathogens, which most commonly cause mastitis such as Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., Pasteurella spp., Actinobacillus spp., Clostridium spp., Leptospira spp., Proteus spp., Corynebacterium spp., Campylobacter spp., Escherichia coli, etc.

Dosage & Administration:

Clean and disinfect the teat, then infuse one syringe into each quarter at the last lactating. Massage the medication up into the milk cistern. If necessary, be repeated within 12 hours (up to 3 times).
