Indications:

Baycolisty^® is indicated for gastrointestinal infections caused by colistin sensitive microorganisms like E. coli, Haemophilus and Salmonella spp.

Mechanism of action:

Colistin sulphate is an antibiotic from the group of polymyxins with bactericidal activity against gram-negative bacteria like E. coli, Haemophilus and Salmonella spp. Polymyxins interact strongly with phospholipids, penetrate into, and disrupt the structure of cell membranes. They disorganise the outer membrane of gram-negative bacteria by binding lipopolysaccharide (LPS) and thereby neutralising the endotoxin capacity of LPS. Orally administered colistin is eliminated in faeces.

Dosage and administration:

Calves, kids and lambs: 0.25 ml of solution per 10 kg B.W., every 12 hours for 3-4 days.

Poultry: 0.25 ml of solution per 1 liter of drinking water for 3 days.

Withdrawal time:

Meat: 7 days after the last treatment

Contra-indications:

Do not use in layers producing eggs for human consumption.

Caution:

Should be used within 30 days after opening the seal.

The solution should be used within 24 hours of preparation.

Keep out of reach and sight of children.

Use only under the prescription of a veterinarian.
