Indications:

Mastaflak® used for treatment and control of mastitis in dairy cows during the lactating period.

Mechanism of action:

Penicillin is an antibiotic of the β-lactam class. It works by interfering with the formation of bacteria’s cell wall while it is growing. This weakens the cell wall and kills the bacteria. Penicillin G is active against gram-positive and limited number of gram-negative bacteria. Neomycin is an antibiotic from the aminoglycoside group with bactericidal activity. It is protein synthesis inhibitor. Neomycin has excellent activity against gram-negative bacteria, and has partial activity against gram-positive bacteria.

Dosage & Administration:

Clean and disinfect the teat, then infuse one syringe into each quarter at the last lactating. Massage the medication up into the milk cistern. If necessary, be repeated within 12 hours (up to 3 times).

Withdrawal time:

Milk: 3 days after the last treatment

Meat: 4 days after the last treatment

Contra-indications:

Do not use in dry cows.

Caution:

Shake well before use.

Allergic reaction to penicillin rarely occurs in some animals.

Keep out of reach and sight of children.

Use only under the prescription of a veterinarian.

Storage:

Do not store above 25°C, keep away from light and freezing.
