Intramammary infusion

Therapeutically classification: Antibiotic

Composition: Each 10 g syringe contains:

Cephalexin (monohydrate)              200 mg

Kanamycin (acid sulfate)                100٫000 I.U

Oily base q.s.                                   10 g

Target species: Lactating cows

Indications:

Mastilex® used for treatment and control of clinical mastitis in dairy cows during the lactating period.

Mechanism of action:

Cephalexin is a first generation of cephalosporin and belongs to beta lactam antibiotics class. Cephalexin acts its antibacterial effect on gram-positive bacteria by prevention of peptidoglycan synthesis of bacterial cell wall. This mechanism is time dependent. Kanamycin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic and acts its bactericidal action by prevention of bacterial protein synthesis in gram-negative pathogens. So that, this product has bactericidal effect on gram positive bacteria like Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus uberis and gram-negative bacteria like Escherichia coli.

Dosage & Administration:

Clean and disinfect the teat, then infuse one syringe into each quarter at the last lactating. Massage the medication up into the milk cistern. Treat the infected quarter twice, leaving an interval of 24 hours between treatments.

Withdrawal time:

Milk: 5 days after the last treatment

Meat: 10 days after the last treatment

Contra-indications:

Do not use in dry cows.

Caution:

Shake well before use.

Allergic reaction may occur in some animals.

Use only under the prescription of a veterinarian.

Keep out of reach and sight of children.

Storage:

Do not store above 25°C, keep away from light and freezing
