Indications:
Cloxatin ® is indicated in the control and treatment of mastitis in dairy cows during the dry period due to Streptococcus agalactiae and Staphylococcus aureus including penicillin-resistant strains.
Mechanism of action:
Cloxacillin benzathine has bactericidal activity against gram-positive bacteria. It is semisynthetic and in the same class as penicillin. Cloxacillin is used against staphylococci that produce beta-lactamase and due to its large R chain which does not allow the beta-lactamase to bind. Cloxacillin has less antibacterial activity than benzylpenicillin.
Dosage & Administration:
Clean and disinfect the teat, then infuse one syringe into each quarter at the last lactating. Massage the medication up into the milk cistern.
Withdrawal time:
Milk: 4 days after parturition
Meat: 28 days after the last treatment
Contra-indications:
Not to be used within 30 days of calving.
Do not use in lactating cows.
Caution:
Shake well before use.
Allergic reaction may occur in some animals.
Use only under the prescription of a veterinarian.
Keep out of reach and sight of children.
Storage:
Do not store above 25°C, keep away from light and freezing
