Indications:

Cloxatin ® is indicated in the control and treatment of mastitis in dairy cows during the dry period due to Streptococcus agalactiae and Staphylococcus aureus including penicillin-resistant strains.

Cloxacillin benzathine has bactericidal activity against gram-positive bacteria. It is semisynthetic and in the same class as penicillin. Cloxacillin is used against staphylococci that produce beta-lactamase and due to its large R chain which does not allow the beta-lactamase to bind. Cloxacillin has less antibacterial activity than benzylpenicillin.
