Oral solution
Therapeutically classification: Lubricant laxative, Anti-bloat
Composition: Each ml contains:
Medicinal liquid paraffin 1 ml
Target species: Horses, Cattle, Sheep, Goats, Dogs and Cats
Indications:
Bayrafin® is used as laxative and stool softener in variety of gastrointestinal disorders including impaction, indigestion, constipation, bloat and sand colic in horses and meconium impaction in newborns.
Mechanism of action:
Paraffin reduces reabsorption of water and electrolytes from the gastrointestinal tract, thereby increasing fecal bulk and decreasing intestinal transit time. It reduces the surface tension of the rumen content and used as anti-bloat in the treatment of ruminant bloating.
Dosage and administration:
Cattle and Horses: 1-4 liters via oral route and if repetition is necessary, divide this dose into 2-3 times and administer, daily.
Calves and Foals: 60-120 ml via oral route, 50-60 ml rectally for excretion of meconium
Sheep and Goats: 100-500 ml via oral route
Lambs and kids: 5-10 ml rectally for excretion of meconium
Dogs: 2-60 ml via oral route
Cats: 2-20 ml via oral route

Contra-indications: None
Caution:
For prevention of possible occurrence of aspiration pneumonia, it is better to administer via tube.
Long-term administration of paraffin may lead to decreased absorption of fat soluble vitamins (A, K, D, E).
Keep out of reach and sight of children.
Use only under the prescription of a veterinarian.
Storage:
Do not store above 25°C, keep away from light and freezing.
