Indications:
Neocin® 20% is used for the control and treatment of bacterial enteritis caused by bacteria susceptible to neomycin, such as E. coli, Salmonella and Campylobacter spp. This drug is also effective against Histomonas meleagridis, thus is effective in treatment of blue comb disease in turkeys.
Mechanism of action:
Neomycin is an antibiotic from the aminoglycoside group with bactericidal activity. It is protein synthesis inhibitor. Neomycin has excellent activity against gram-negative bacteria, and has partial activity against gram-positive bacteria.
Dosage & Administration:
Calves, Kids and Lambs: 22 mg/kg body weight (11 ml/100 kg body weight) for 3-5 days
Poultry: up to second week: 1 ml/4 L drinking water for 3-5 days
From third week to end of term: 1 ml/2.5 L drinking water for 3-5 days
Turkey: up to first week: 1 ml/2.5 L drinking water for 3-5 days
From second week to end of eighth week: 1 ml/1.5 L of drinking water for 3-5 days
From ninth week to twenty-sixth week: 1 ml/1.2 L drinking water for 3-5 days
Withdrawal time:
Calves: 30 days after the last treatment / Kids, Lambs: 20 days after the last treatment
Poultry: 7 days after the last treatment / Turkey: 14 days after the last treatment
Contra-indications:
Hypersensitivity to neomycin may be occurred.
Do not administer to animals with a seriously impaired renal function.
Do not use in poultry that produce eggs for human consumption.
Caution:
Should be used within 30 days after opening the seal.
Medicated water should be used within 24 hours.
Keep out of reach and sight of children.
Use only under the prescription of veterinarian.
Storage:
Do not store above 25°C, keep away from light and freezing.
