Indications:
Aflatic® 1+1 is for treatment and control of infections caused by bacteria sensitive to penicillin or dihydrostreptomycin, such as Omphalitis, Arthritis, Erysipelas, gastrointestinal infection, respiratory tract infections including pneumonia and atrophic rhinitis; listeriosis; meningitis; septicemia; toxemia associated with mastitis; urogenital tract infections; anthrax, tetanus, malignant edema, botulism, strangles, gas gangrene, foot rot, leptospirosis, salmonellosis and enteritis associated with Salmonella spp., preoperative treatments, the control of secondary bacterial invaders in diseases of primary viral origin.
Mechanism of action:
Penicillin is an antibiotic of the ß-lactam class; dihydrostreptomycin belongs to the aminoglycosides. The combination of penicillin G procaine and dihydrostreptomycin acts synergistic. The combination is active against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria such as Arcanobacterium pyogenes, Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae, Klebsiella pneumonia, Listeria spp., Leptospira spp., Mannheimia haemolytica, Pasteurella multocida, Streptococcus spp., Salmonella spp., E. coli, Clostridium, Campylobacter, Bacillus anthracis, Actinomyces bovis, Haemophilus, Mycoplasma, Fusobacterium and has a bactericidal action.
Dosage & Administration:
Add 10-15 ml sterile WFI and shake well before use and use intramuscular injection
Cattle and Horses: 5000-15000 IU/kg BW penicillin and 5-15 mg/kg BW dihydrostreptomycin every 24 hours for 3 days
Sheep and Goats: 8000-15000 IU/kg BW penicillin and 8-15 mg/kg BW dihydrostreptomycin every 24 hours for 3 days
Cats and Dogs: 10000- 20000 IU/kg BW penicillin and 10-20 mg/kg BW dihydrostreptomycin every 24 hours for 3 days
Withdrawal time:
Milk: 2 days after the last treatment
Meat: 30 days after the last treatment
Kidney: 45 days after the last treatment
Contra-indications:
Hypersensitivity to penicillins and/or aminoglycosides.
Administration to animals with a serious impaired renal function.
Concurrent administration with tetracyclines, chloramphenicol, macrolides and lincosamides.
Caution:
Intravenous and subcutaneous injection is not recommended.
Use carefully in pregnant animals although there is no evidence of adverse effects on fetus.
Because of the possibility of procaine positive doping test, do not use procaine penicillin G 2 weeks before racing.
Keep out of reach and sight of children.
Use only under the prescription of a veterinarian.
Storage:
Do not store above 25 °C, keep away from light and moisture.
