Indications:
Neocin® is indicated for treatment of bacterial enteritis in calves, sheep, goats and poultry which caused by bacterial susceptible to Neomycin, such as E. coli, Salmonella spp. and campylobacter spp.
Mechanism of action:
Neomycin is an antibiotic from the aminoglycoside group with bactericidal activity. It is protein synthesis inhibitor, by binding to 30S ribosomal subunit. Neomycin has excellent activity against gram-negative bacteria and has partial activity against gram-positive bacteria.
Dosage & Administration:
Calves, Goats and Sheep: Use 12 -14 mg Neomycin (sulfate) per kg body weight for 3-5 days.
Poultry: 1 g per 1 liter drinking water for 3-5 days
Withdrawal time:
For meat: Calves: 30 days / Goats and Sheep: 20 days / Poultry: 14 days after last treatment
For milk: 2 days after last treatment
For eggs: 14 days after last treatment
Caution:
Hypersensitivity to neomycin may be occurred.
Do not administer to animals with a seriously impaired renal function.
Do not administer during lactation.
Do not administer to poultry producing eggs for human consumption.
Do not use with aminoglycosides and diuretic drugs.
Do not administer to animals with an active microbial digestion.
Use only under the prescription of a veterinarian.
Keep out of reach and sight of children.
Storage:
Do not store above 25 ͦ C, keep away from light and moisture.
