Mechanism of action:
Levamisole is a broad-spectrum anti-parasite drug of the Imidazothiazole class that by stimulating the nervous system, causing paralysis of the parasites quickly and thus separating and leaving the parasites from the animal body. Levamisole is readily absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract and metabolized in the liver. |
Indications:
Levamisole is used for treatment and control of nematode infection, including Dictyocaulus viviparous, Cooperia spp., Ostertagia spp., Haemonchus spp., Bunostomum spp., Oesophagostomum spp. and Trichostrongylus vulgaris. |
Dosage & Administration:
10 ml/kg B.W. or 2.5 ml per 50 kg B.W. applied topically along the mid-line of the back in narrow strip between the withers and tailhead. Note: cattle over 350 kg should be given a further 2.5 ml for each additional 50 kg B.W. |
Withdrawal:
Meat: 28 days after the last treatment |
Contra-indications:
Do not use in cattle that produce milk for human consumption. Cattle must not be treated within a period of 14 days before or after treatment with organophosphorous compounds. Cautions: For external use only. Should be used within 30 days after opening the seal. Do not eat, drink or smoke when using this product. After using the drug, wash your hands. Keep out of reach and sight of children. Use only under the prescription of a veterinarian. |
