Indications:
Baymisole® 7.5% is used for treatment and control of nematode infections in cattle and sheep and prescribed in cases of parasitic gastroenteritis and lungworm diseases. Baymisole® is effective on mature and immature parasites such as Dictyocaulus spp, Trichostrongylus spp., Cooperia spp., Ostertagia spp., Haemonchus spp., Nematodirus spp., Bunostomum spp., Oesophagostomum spp., Chabertia spp.
Mechanism of action:
Baymisole® 7.5% is a broad spectrum anthelmintic that acts as a nicotine acetylcholine receptor and thus stimulates sympathetic and parasympathetic ganglia, causing paralysis and expel the worms from the body.
Dosage & Administration:
Cattle and Sheep:
To administer as an oral drench using gun system at a rate of 7.5 mg levamisole hydrochloride per kg body weight or 1 ml Baymisole® per 10 kg body weight.
Cattle over 300 kg and sheep over 60 kg should be given a further 0.5 ml for each additional 5 kg body weight.
Withdrawal time:
Cattle: Meat: 14 days after the last treatment / Milk: 4 days after the last treatment
Sheep: Meat: 21 days after the last treatment / Milk: 4 days after the last treatment
Contra-indications:
Baymisole® is safe for use in the recommended dose, however if administered more than the usual dose, animals may show signs of motor deficiency such as tremor, head shaking and increased saliva that is transient.
Do not use in cattle and sheep that produce milk for human consumption.
Concurrent treatment with organophosphorus compounds, diethyl carbamazine citrate, chloramphenicol and pyrantel should be avoided. These compounds should not be administered within a period of 14 days before or after treatment with levamisole.
When using Baymisole®, do not eat, drink or smoke.
Caution:
Should be used within 30 days after opening the seal.
Keep out of reach and sight of children.
Use only under the prescription of a veterinarian.
Storage:
Do not store above 25 °C, keep away from light and freezing.
