Baylactam®1

Sterile powder for injectable suspension

Therapeutically classification: Antibiotic

Composition: Each vial contains:

Penicillin G procaine 1000000 I.U

Target species: Cattle, Horses, Sheep, Goats, Dogs and Cats

Indications:

Baylactam® 1 exerts a bactericidal action on many gram-positive bacteria like Campylobacter spp., Clostridium spp., Corynebacterium pyogenes, Haemophilus spp., Listeria spp., Mannheimia heamolytica, Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., Pasteurella multocida, Actinomyces bovis, and Bacillus anthracis.

Baylactam®1 is used for treatment of arthritis, omphalitis, gastrointestinal infections, respiratory tract infections, urogenital tract infections, septicemia, listeriosis, leptospirosis, botulism, strangles, anthrax, malignant edema, tetanus, gas gangrene, preoperative treatments and secondary infection caused by penicillin sensitive micro-organisms.

Mechanism of action:

Penicillin G exerts a bactericidal action against penicillin-susceptible microorganisms during the stage of active multiplication. It acts through the inhibition of biosynthesis of cell-wall mucopeptide. It is not active against the penicillinase-producing bacteria. Penicillin G is active against many gram-positive and a limited number of gram-negative bacteria.

The drug is distributed widely in the body tissues. Highest levels are found in the kidneys with lesser amounts in the liver, skin, and intestines. Penicillin G penetrates into all other tissues to a lesser degree with a very small level found in the cerebrospinal fluid. With normal kidney function, the drug is excreted rapidly by tubular excretion.

Add 5 ml sterile WFI, shake well then use deep intramuscular injection immediately.
