Indications:
Fenbendazole a broad-spectrum anti-parasitic drugs are effective on parasite eggs, infant and adult stages of gastrointestinal and respiratory system nematodes such as Haemonchus, Nematodirus, Ostertagia, Trichostrongylus, Cooperia, Oesophagostomum, Chabrtia Ovina, Trichuris ovis and Neoascaris in cattle, sheep and goats, as well as the gastrointestinal tract adult cestodes such as large and small strongyle, Ascaris and Oxyuris in equine, Ascaris and ancylostoma, Trichuris and adult Cestods in carnivores.
Mechanism of action:
Fenbendazole is a benzimidazole anti-parasitic that inhibits fumarate reductase enzyme activity, preventing the reduction of fumarate to succinate in mitochondria and inhibits the production of energy. As a result, the parasite is destroyed due to muscle paralysis. The drug absorption from the intestine is very low and slowly that increases the effectiveness of the treatment. 10-12 hours after administration, drug reaches to its maximum plasma concentration.
Fenbendazole discretion of about 90% in the feces and urine will be a little.
Dosage & Administration:
Sheep and Goats: 5 mg per kg of body weight (or 2 ml per 10 kg body weight) per day and are increased to double dose in case of cestode infection.
Cattle: 7.5 mg per kg of body weight (or 3 ml per 10 kg body weight) per day is recommended.
Equine: 7.5 mg per kg of body weight (or 3 ml per 10 kg body weight for treatment of gastrointestinal infections) per day and 10 mg per kg of body weight (or 4 ml for every 10 kg body weight) daily for 5 days for the treatment of pulmonary infections is recommended.
Dogs and Cats: 50 mg per kg of body weight (or 2 ml per kg of body weight) per day for 3 days is recommended.
Note: Duration and Dosage should be determined by the prescribing veterinarian.
Withdrawal time:
Cattles, Goats and Sheep:
Meat: 7 days after the last treatment / Milk: 3 – 5 days after the last treatment
Side effects:
The drug in recommended dose for ruminants does not have any side effects and can be used in different stages of pregnancy due to their high tolerance to the drug.
Caution:
Avoid concomitant use with bromine salts that are used in worms, liver fasciola.
Shake well before use
Avoid contact with the hands.
Keep out of reach and sight of children.
Use only under the prescription of a veterinarian
Storage:
Do not store above 25º C, keep away from light and freezing.
